Does anyone get paid at SKIP?
No. Everyone at SKIP is a volunteer. We do not have the money to pay anyone for time or services. Every penny we bring in goes directly into supporting the SKIP mission.
What does 501(c)(3) mean?
501(c)(3) is a just one of twenty-two different types of organizational tax exemptions granted by the IRS under section 501 of the Code. 501(c)(3) exemptions are for "charitable, educational, and religious" organizations. SKIP is a charitable corporation. For many reasons 501(c)(3) is the most desirable of all exemptions because of the "goodies" that come with it. The other (less desirable) types of exemptions are for organizations such as civic leagues, social welfare labor unions, business leagues, social clubs, farmer's coops, etc.

I don't have time to volunteer; can I still help?
We understand that many people lead very busy lives. You don't have to volunteer with SKIP to be a part of the team and support the troops. Please visit the SKIP Fundraisers and Merchandise page for some other great ways you can show your support.
What happens if I get hurt or sick as a SKIP volunteer?
This has never been a problem and we do everything possible to make sure SKIP volunteers are safe from harm or illness at SKIP events and other tasks. At this time we do not have the financial means to provide insurance for our volunteers and we require all volunteers to agree that SKIP will not be held liable for accidents or illness. In the event that you or another volunteer becomes ill or injurred while performing volunteer responsibilities for SKIP we will make sure the injurred or ill person(s) is given apprpriate recovery time before volunteering again, and in an emergency they will be taken to the nearest hospital. If you believe your limitations are being pressed please let us know so we can reduce your workload and hopefully prevent any accidents or illness before they strike.
I'm not 18; can I still volunteer?
SKIP welcomes volunteers of all ages, however if you are under the age of 18 you must have your parent or guardian complete a parental consent form before we can place you as a volunteer. To download the form please click here.
