QUALIFICATIONS
The right person for this job will have experience writing grant applications, articulate writing skills, and will be excellent with record keeping. They will also own and be comfortable using the Internet and Microsoft Excel and Word (or compatible program such as OpenOffice or NeoOffice, which are can be downloaded online and used for free), passionate about supporting deployed US troops, able to take direction and constructive criticism, and be willing to assist with other projects related to the fundraising activities of SKIP.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently research, write, and mail grant applications for SKIP
- Post on the SKIP Online Forum and retain hard copy of records of grant applications and their successes
TRAINING
The Fundraising Committee Chairperson or the Executive Director will notify the selected applicant via telephone or e-mail. Supervisor and team members contact information will be provided to the selected applicant after verification that the position is still desired. Training for writing grant applications is not available at this time, which is one reason we're seeking someone with previous experience. Training for using the Forum will be conducted in-person or via e-mail for the selected applicant. The trainer may be a SKIP board member, committee member, or director.
TIME AND PLACE
Grant Writers will work from home and will use their personal computers. Estimated time requirement: unknown.
COMMITMENT
The selected applicant would retain this position for 1 year unless otherwise decided by the volunteer, the Fundraising Committee Chairperson, the Executive Director, or the SKIP board of directors.
ON-THE-JOB SUPERVISION
The supervisor for this position will be the Fundraising Committee Chairperson or other appointed committee member or director.
