QUALIFICATIONS
The right person for this job will live in southeastern Massachusetts, have experience as a SKIP volunteer, have reliable transportation to attend assigned events, be capable of recruiting, motivating, and retaining a network of reliable volunteers, and manage those volunteers by tracking hours and placement. They will also own and be comfortable using the Internet and Microsoft Excel and Word (or compatible program such as OpenOffice or NeoOffice, which are can be downloaded online and used for free), passionate about supporting deployed US troops and the quality of support SKIP can offer, and able to take direction and constructive criticism.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently recruit, train, and schedule volunteers
- Post on the SKIP Online Forum and retain hard copy of records of volunteer hours and placement for each event or task
- Assist with improving/developing a strong and motivated volunteer base
TRAINING
The Executive Director will notify the selected applicant via telephone or e-mail. Supervisor and team members contact information will be provided to the selected applicant after verification that the position is still desired. Training will be conducted in-person or via e-mail for the selected applicant. The trainer may be a SKIP board member or director.
TIME AND PLACE
Volunteer Coordinators will work from home and outside the home. Estimated time requirement: 1-2 hours per week. Volunteer opportunities will be sent via e-mail to the selected applicant's skipcares.org e-mail account as they become available.
COMMITMENT
The selected applicant would retain this position for 1 year unless otherwise decided by the volunteer, the the Executive Director or the SKIP board of directors.
ON-THE-JOB SUPERVISION
The supervisor for this position will be the Executive Director or other appointed committee member or director.
