The Final Chapter for SKIP

Since 2004, each volunteer for Special Kindness In Packages, Inc. (SKIP) has done his/her very best to remind our troops that they are not forgotten. On behalf of the SKIP board of directors and committee members, I cannot express my gratitude enough for your commitment over the past seven years. Whether you attended a SKIP fundraiser, financially contributed, helped pack care packages or volunteered in some other way, your dedication has been of great value to the organization and to the troops.

More than 11,000 deployed military members have been supported with SKIP care packages between 2004 and 2011. SKIP has even outlived many of the care package charities. But, after several lengthy discussions by the SKIP board of directors it has been decided that SKIP needs to close. The last shipment of care packages will go out by December 31, 2011 – depleting all organizational funds and supplies.

Closing down will take some time and the website is paid in full until December 4, 2013. So, it has been decided that we will use the website to empower you with the knowledge we have gained by running this charity for seven years. Some changes are already taking shape. Others will take a little while.

Empowering You

First and foremost, we encourage you to copy, print and share as much content from the SKIP website as you want. The website will remain active until December 4, 2013. Once that date arrives, everything will be permanently gone.

As the SKIP website continues taking shape, you will find helpful articles about a wide variety of topics – all related to supporting the troops. Some of the general categories we hope to cover include, running a care package charity, fundraisers big and small, and sending care packages. Most articles will probably be focused on charities, but we will do our best to include plenty of resources for people who just want to support a deployed friend or family member.

The contact form on the SKIP website will remain open for you to use. At the bottom of each article there will be a comment area for you to use. If you have any suggestions for new articles or any questions about something not fully explained in an article, please feel free to use either of those resources. Someone will reply as soon as possible.

We want you to feel completely confident in your ability to support the troops.

If you have any questions about SKIP closing, please send an email to nancy@skipcares.org or call (508) 472-1915.

Thank you again,
Nancy Spoerke
