Care Package Ideas
for Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines
SKIP's top ten tips for sending care packages to deployed troops:
- Do not send chocolate (it tends to melt in transit)
- Review the USPS restrictions for the zip code(s) you are sending to
- Priority Mail Flat-Rate tends to be the best way to mail packages
- Fill out the USPS Customs Form entirely and correctly (see our tutorial)
- AT&T Phone Cards are ideal for sending to our deployed troops
- New-Release DVDs, Music, and Games are always treasured inclusions
- Plan care package contents with the military member's environment in mind
- U.S. holiday decorations and gifts are very appropriate for shipping
- Insure high-value items, such as MP3 Players and Gaming Systems
- Expect the package to be dropped/thrown in transit (pack tightly)
