3rd Annual SKIP Benefit Dinner
Over the past few months SKIP volunteers have been hard at work planning the 3rd annual SKIP Benefit Dinner with this year's theme being The American Patriot
. Today, we have the distinct pleasure of sharing a few of the many successes of those efforts.
tickets
At only $25 each this year, we hope to sell all 250 tickets very quickly. They will be sold from April 1 through April 15 online at SKIPcares.org, by mail, or in–person. Children ages 3 years and younger do not need tickets and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If you plan to bring children in this age group please let us know how many when you purchase your tickets. More information about purchasing tickets will be available on the SKIP website within the next couple of days.
entertainment
This year's SKIP Benefit Dinner will feature acclaimed family-friendly magician Matt Roberts. Matt has performed across the globe and has been a featured guest on FOX, PBS, NBC's Today Show, and alongside Jim Henson's Muppets. You can learn more about Matt by visiting his website at MattRobertsMagic.com.
Also joining us this year, to kick off the dinner with her wonderful rendition of the National Anthem, is singer/songwriter Liz Lohnes. We stumbled upon Liz last summer at the Marshfield Fair while recording video messages for the troops. Since we have no shame, we also asked if she'd perform at the dinner this year. She said yes. Since then she has become one of the 12 artists featured on the 2009 MySpace Music Calendar, where she listed Special Kindness In Packages as her charitable nonprofit inspiration. You can hear some of her original music and request her friendship at www.myspace.com/lizlohnes.
If that isn't enough excitement for one evening we have DJ Jeff Fowler, one of Massachusetts premier Disc Jockeys, providing sound for the evening and bringing plenty of music so you can shake your groove thang. And that, my friend, is entertainment for everyone to see.
raffles and auctions
Every year the raffles and auctions get bigger and better. This year we have several items on the docket, which will also be listed/described on SKIPcares.org very soon. But, to get you started, here are a few of them:
- Dustin Pedroia autographed baseball glove
- giftcard for 4 to ride Codzilla
- 19-inch Sharp LCD TV
- Archos laptop computer
on the menu
Three years ago Peter Egan prepared the food for the first-ever SKIP Benefit Dinner. We haven't let go of him yet and hope we never do! This year he's preparing some excellent food including roast sirloin, meatballs and sauce, ziti sausage casserole, chicken with red potatoes and peppers, ceaser salad, and rolls. Like usual, the food will be served buffet-style so you can decide what and how much you want. There will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase at the cash bar.
