Valentine's Day

On this day...
in 1859 Oregon became the 33rd state in the United States; in 1912 Arizona became the 48th state; in 1920 the League of Women Voters was founded; in 1929 members of Al Capone's gang killed rival gang members in the St. Valentine's Day massacre; in 2003 Dolly the sheep, the first cloned mammal, was euthanized because of incurable lung cancer; and in 2009 many Americans woke up to hear or read that the US Congress approved a $787 billion economic stimulus bill.

Now, we're faced with wondering just where this money will end up and how Congress made the decision without evaluating each and every word of what was being proposed. Who will actually profit from this bill? What did it actually say? And the list of questions and concerns continues on and on for many Americans this evening. But, SKIP is not a political organization, and as an organization there are no political opinions to be announced about this bill. All we wanted to do was provide you with some historical facts about Valentine's Day. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Shaw's/Star Market Receipt Program

For a couple of years now, SKIP has accepted receipts from Shaw's and Star Market, which we then needed to total, mail in, and wait for Shaw's to recalculate the total before receiving a check. We've raised more than $2,000 doing that, but those days are now over... and SKIP couldn't be more excited about it!

Things just got easier!
With 2 great programs (Community Partners and Neighborhood Rewards) at four quality retail store chains (Albertsons, Sav-on Drugs, Shaw's, and Star Market), supporting SKIP just became really easy! All you need is a rewards/savings card for one of the participating stores.

Please visit our website to learn how you can participate in these Rewards Card Programs: http://www.SKIPcares.org

Again, Happy Valentine's Day!

We hope you're celebrating with someone special.
