Cool Stuff For Care Packages

Care packages, as you know, are extremely important pieces of mail to our deployed troops. They serve as a reminder to our military that we, as Americans, still care about them and the job they're doing. So, we try our best to include what they want and need in these packages, but with the ever-changing conditions in deployment areas it's sometimes difficult to stay current with those wants and needs. To find out what our troops want and need, SKIP surveyed 500 deployed service members asking what they would like to see in future care packages.

SKIP Cares®

SKIP has made it easier than ever to tell your friends where to turn for supporting the troops. What was specialkindness.org is now SKIPcares.org, so update your bookmarks today! But, don't worry; if you forget to make the change you can still use specialkindness.org to access the website.

We hope you find skipcares.org easier to remember and easier to type. Most importantly though, we hope the change makes it easier for you to tell your friends about SKIP and what we do. Why? Because SKIP Cares®.

Have You Been Naughty or Nice?

Yep, Halloween is officially over and that means its time to start shopping for the holidays! Let me hear a "whoop-whoop!" Yeah, I didn't think so.

This year, if you plan to do any shopping online don't forget to use iGive.com to find everything you'd ever need, while supporting the troops! By shopping through iGive.com and designating Special Kindness In Packages as your charity, a percentage of your order is paid directly to Special Kindness In Packages with NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU. There are thousands of stores like Staples, Best Buy, and the Home Depot, millions of products at those stores, and many stores also offer discounts for iGive.com members.

For example, are you planning on giving someone anything in the office supplies category, such as flash drives, digital camera memory cards, photo printer, new desk chair, etc.? iGive.com gives 1.6% of your total purchase price directly to SKIP. What about gift baskets for out of town friends or relatives or as office gifts? 3.6% through iGive.

Remember, it does not increase the cost to you by even a penny, ever. If you haven't joined this program, now is the best time.

The Future of SKIP

As the end of 2008 gets closer and the new year is right around the corner, all of us at Special Kindness In Packages are looking forward to new and exciting challenges. 2008 brought on many activities including Boots in Bars, our second annual dinner, a booth at the Marshfield fair and at the Brockton Christmas Fair, and we participated in the 4th of July parade in Bridgewater for the first time. There were other activities also, some of which were held in other states on our behalf.

So what is in our future? We would like to participate in all the activities as in 2008 plus there are possibilities of a yard sale, bowling event, and bbq. These items are in their planning stages at this time. These events will help us cover the costs of shipping care packages to our deployed military members. Would you like to help plan or participate in some of the events?
