The Special Kindness In Packages, Inc. 2nd Annual Benefit Dinner takes place on May 31st. Get your tickets now before time runs out! Remember the dinner is open to children of all ages, but only those who are aged 13 years or younger qualify for the children’s ticket. The last day to buy tickets is the 23rd, but there's only a handful left, so act fast before they’re gone. Don’t be left out.

Buy Coffee for the Troops

Borders at the Independence Mall in Kingston, MA started a coffee drive on May 9th. If you purchase a pound to donate to the troops you will receive a free medium drink! The troops are always in need of coffee, here’s an easy way to help them out. All you do is purchase the coffee, Borders will hold on to the purchased coffee and provide it to us to ship overseas. What could be easier? Not to mention the free medium drink you’ll get for donating a pound of coffee to Special Kindness In Packages, Inc.

June 8 - Packing Day

The next packing day is tentatively scheduled for June 8, 2008 at the First Congregational Church in Hanson, MA. More information will follow soon; we’re still working the kinks out. As more information becomes available we'll post it on our website, MySpace profile, and our facebook profile.

Because May is Military Appreciation Month we thought it the perfect time to introduce several community events taking place to honor veterans and especially honor the fallen. The Mosquito Fleet: World War II PT Boats
Connecticut Valley Historical Museum at the Quadrangle – Springfield, MA
Now through June 29, 2008

A collection of World War II memorabilia with hundreds of artifacts including posters, boat models, training manuals and design plans, ammunition, helmets, flags, pins and patches, photos, maps, and souvenirs brought back by PT Boat crew members will be on view. Visitors can also see historic film footage from Elco, the company that manufactured PT boats. Location: Connecticut Valley Historical Museum at the Quadrangle, 21 Edwards Street. A memorial service honoring the men and women who served our country during the Vietnam War will commence at 12:00 PM and is open to the public.

May 30, 2008 - Memorial Day at Battleship Cove
Honor and commemorate the men and women who gave their lives for freedom. Experience a traditional military observance at 12:00 PM with the raising of the American flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute, firing one shot each minute.
