A Day To Remember
Monday is the day to remember all those who have given their lives for their country. Why was May 30th chosen as Memorial Day? Because it was not the anniversary of any battle. Memorial Day was originally named Decoration Day, a day to celebrate the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We fly the national flag at half–staff until noon, then it is raised to full staff, why?
Half–staff or half–mast is a symbol of mourning and grief. Lowering the flag gives us an opportunity to feel and express sorrow. It is also a period of pride and thankfulness. On Memorial Day it is flown half–staff until noon in honor of those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. At noon it is raised to remind us that our nation is alive.
We think pictures are worth more than words. Please watch the video.
This brings closure to the MAM information emails for the year.
We wish to give a huge thank you to all our service members, veterans, and their families who have served our country in one form or another. Many of you have risked your lives to protect us, some friends have died, some are ill or wounded, and the families too have made many sacrifices. War affects everyone. Lets pray for peace.
We are grateful for you all.
We thank you
May God Bless America and you
Nancy & Sunshine
