Military Appreciation Month
The U.S. Congress yearly has adopted a resolution calling for Americans to recognize and honor U.S. service members during May's National Military Appreciation Month. The month gives the U.S. citizens time to join in unity honoring the current and former members of the Armed Forces so we may experience freedom and peace.
May focuses on the military in many ways. We celebrate Silver Star Day, Loyalty Day, VE Day, Military Spouse Day, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day. The month not only draws attention to the personal sacrifices of the men and women of the armed forces, but their families also.
Our military families are constantly tasked and their lifestyle can take a toll. They need to know we support them for having a family member that has volunteered to protect and defend our families during peace and during war times. To the families who stand behind those serving, we cannot fathom what they go through day in and day out, especially if their loved one is away. These families defend our country and they make some large sacrifices such as moving, not having their loved one home over holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Over the month We are given this time to honor everyone that has served in the military, though we should do that every day of the year. Those serving do not only serve one day or one month, they serve every day of the year, with no set hours, they are on call 24 hours a day.
We should pay tribute to our heroes that serve or have served in the armed forces. They are courageous men and women, that serve our nation bravely at home and overseas.
